You have probably seen an increase of paper work coming home. They earn a sticker for their
chart if they complete some kind of writing assignment.
In Big Books, they can fill out a reading response that tells about the main characters & the setting.
They can also fill out a reading response for books they have read or listened to in the listening
& reading centers that allows students to draw and write about their favorite part. In the block center, they must design an object and write a sentence about what they created. In the playdoh & word work stations, they can make lists of words they know. This small task is helping them prepare for a more rigorous work load in first grade. Below are a few pictures!
and what we have learned about that specific animal. Then we pick two facts and write a
sentence relaying information. We are currently researching animals using the Chrome books
and they had to pick three of their favorite animals. Monday we will be writing our
informational sentences about the animal they chose!
In Pathways to Reading, we are continuing to focus on the -H brothers (ch, sh, wh, th) and all the long vowel sounds. We have also made some funny posters to help us remember sounds like
-ing (the King of -ing), - ang (the Gang of -ang), and -ank (Frank in the tank).
Be prepared to turn down the volume at the 2 minute marker!
