My name is Jennifer Halvorson and I have been working in the education field for over 20 years.
I graduated high school from Rich Hill, MO and received my Bachelor's degree from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO. I taught first grade in Joplin from 2001-02 and moved to work for the Ray-Pec school district. I taught kindergarten for two years at Peculiar Elementary. I then spent eight years at home raising my kids and graduated with a Master's degree in education during that time from Baker University. I came back to teaching when Ally started kindergarten & was lucky to get a job back at Ray-Pec. I worked at Peculiar Elementary as the Teacher Associate for one year and then moved to Timber Creek Elementary to teach second grade and kindergarten. |
We left the Kansas City area in 2017 & moved to my family pecan farm in Rich Hill, MO. I did not pursue another teaching job, instead focusing on building our farm home and taking care of the property.
Once the home was built in 2018, I started learning how to write code. I found creating this basic weebly site extremely fun and satisfying and wanted to learn more! I created my own Personal Portfolio from scratch & continue working on small projects, learning new material, and participating in KC area coding workshops. I am also a part-time teacher for the Rich Hill School District.
I am married to Steve, a computer programmer, and have two kids, Ally (a highschooler) and Josh (an accountant in Kansas City). My hobbies include reading, working outside, gardening, photography, learning pecan farming from my father, and enjoying the solitude and slow speed of country living.
