I'm always trying to find new ways to use technology. Mrs. Poland introduced us to Popplet.com, a fun way to organize our thoughts and ideas! We also used it today to create a web of our Native American names!

Since computer lab has been taken out of our four-day rotation and is only offered every third week, we take advantage of using the lab when it's not in use. The kids have a great time exploring sites and games and helping each other. It's so fun to see them work together!
I'm toying with a new app I just LOVE. I can record a lesson on my ipad, display it through our new (amazing!) Reflector program on the teamboard, save the lesson and then students can watch it over and over on our iPads during small group stations! This was a test lesson...I hope to have new (and better) lessons on my educreations website every day: http://www.educreations.com/profile/11438817/ This week's newsletter is available online:
http://www.halvorsonshome.com/newsletters.html TWELVE students finished filling their behavior charts this week. In celebration, students got to pick something out of the treasure box and have lunch with me (I had to spread the love over two days). We had a great time! :)
Last Friday, I had four friends finish filling their behavior charts with stickers! They got to pick something out of the treasure chest and have lunch with me. We started math groups this past week and the kids are really enjoying the new centers and time with me. I am working with three groups of 5-6 students on number recognition 0-10, number review 0-20, and numbers 0-100 depending on the group's needs. When they aren't with me, students have center rotations that include math skills (games of putting numbers in order, writing numbers, flash cards), math games, counters (they have a set of cards and have to count out the number on the card), puzzles (number order), math stories (books we read during our large group math lessons), make a math book (black and white books they can color and read), math apps on the iPads (we have TWO NOW!!), math games on the computer, playdoh and blocks. We had a fun time ordering numbers together last Friday. This is a great concept to review at home. Make number cards to 20 and have your child put them in order. Have them say the numbers forward and backwards!
