This week in math, we reviewed subtraction with various fun activities! We made subtraction bracelets using pipe cleaners and beads. We practiced writing subtraction sentences using our bracelets by sliding the beads away on the bracelet.
Ms. Jefferies did a Pete the Cat's Groovy Buttons activity where students placed buttons on a t-shirt printout. As we watched the video of the book, students took a button away and wrote a subtraction sentence. Here's a link to the book for you to read at home! | |
We started working on a book about the seasons this week. On day 1, we created a four square to organize what we would be writing about. On day 2, we read a book about winter and created an anchor chart listing things that we liked doing in winter (nouns or verbs: snow angels, sledding) and descriptive words about winter (adjectives: cold, chilly, fun). On day 3, we wrote a fact sentence about winter (Winter is cold and snowy.) and an opinion sentence (I like winter because I can go sledding.). Next week we will continue working on spring, summer, and fall pages.
