Math This week in math, we have been learning different strategies to use for subtraction. We have used pictures in our problems and even used a number line! The students were given a math problem and had to jump to the number on the number line. Then, they had to jump backwards to the number of spaces that they were subtracting. The number that they landed on was their answer in the problem. To review subtraction, we sang the song "Five Little Speckled Frog" and made a subtraction book along with the song. |
Pathways This week we introduced the letters/sounds J and CH and popcorn words so/up. We played a game using popcorn words where the students were each given a letter to a word and they had to find the other students with the rest of their letters for that word. Once they found each other, they arranged themselves in the correct order to spell that word. We also started focusing on setting in shared reading. We use picture clues to help us talk about the story after reading it aloud. |
We finished our book about the seasons. After our class discussion, the students wrote a fact about the season & another sentence on their paper that was an opinion.
