Last week we focused on Bb and all the popcorn words: I, the, see, to, and, a like, am, of, in.
Math:
We continued comparing (greater/more and less/fewer), recognizing, and writing numbers 0-10.
Writing:
We spent the week writing about words that begin with B: bat, bugs, bus, and bee. Every day, we read a story relating to the word we are going to write about. We read Stellaluna, Bats (a nonfiction book), and Baby Bat's Lullaby for bats. For bus, we read The Wheels on the Bus and listened to the song. We also read The Bugliest Bug for bugs and The Happy Bee for bee.
We spent a little time each day this week reviewing hurtful & helpful behavior. We made a chart and read many books, such as: Franklin is Bossy, When Sophie Gets Angry, and Franklin Says Sorry. We talked about ways to handle our overwhelming feelings (ask your child to show them the breathing balloon) and ways to talk to others when there is a problem. |
There is no magic age at which children suddenly “become” responsible. They learn about being responsible gradually—in much the same way that they learn to walk and talk:
• Preschoolers can begin taking responsibility for putting their dirty clothes in the hamper and putting their toys away after playing with them.
• Kindergarteners should be ready to help set the table for dinner, make their beds and keep the pet’s water dish filled.
