Our daily morning message helps students understand the basis of writing: we create sentences that make sense, put spaces between words, capitalize the letter I and words at the beginning of sentences, correctly use punctuation, and use popcorn words and other simply spelled words.
Friday we learned a new concept called "subitizing." It is being able to recognize the amount of objects quickly (in a flash) and correlate a digit with it. For instance, roll a dice, but only show the dots for a few seconds. Have your child write the digit - not the actual dots. You can also play an online dice game and have them write the digit on a piece of paper or dry erase board!
Our new Scholastic Book Order went home today. It will be due November 6th. Books make GREAT gifts! Plus, those points add up and is a great way for our class to earn new books! Click the button or go to scholastic.com/readingclub and enter the code: L8LHL
